Incumbent performs similar work in all areas of the yard as the need arises.Ībility to use tank signals to start work and air horn or whistle to convey warnings.Ībility to pass fire watch certification which includes a four hour slide show and hands on demonstration of firefighting techniques. Responsible for replacing used extinguishers as soon as they have been discharged.ĮSSENTIAL SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for proper utilization of fire extinguishers: CO2 and water pressure extinguishers. Utilizes and applies fire-retardant cloth in hot work areas, as necessary. Maintains safety procedures throughout area when performing roving or zone fire watch duties. Maintains awareness of fire alarm systems and procedures. Obtains and maintains a fully pressurized fire extinguisher.Įnsures the 1 ½” fire hose is readily available, and pressurized when needed.Įnsures that hot work permit and potential marine chemist certificate are executed and posted before hot work begins.Ĭhecks general precautions on hot work permit prior to hot work beginning. Properly cares for and safely uses tools and all company property. Works in a team environment under the supervision of a foreman. Performs general clean up of the area before hot work begins. Performs fire watch duties supporting shipyard projects. Performs work with minimal supervision.Ĭomplies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures. Successfully performs work as an individual, as a member of a single craft, or a multi-craft work crew.
